- To successfully complete a portrait photo shoot using studio lighting, backdrop, and a model
- Construct a new identity or bring awareness to an important issue by positioning and guiding your model and using at least two "props" or making two alterations to your model.
- Position the lighting and adjust camera settings so that the lighting supports the identity you are constructing and be able to explain it.
- Know how to fracture a photo in photohsop
Requirements:
For Photoshoot
- 20 minute photo shoot with at least 20 photos (make sure you are adjusting lighting and positioning of model and that backdrop covers background. Look at photo and adjust!)
- Must construct an identity or social justice issue using at least two props/adjustments/costume pieces (mask, make up, hat, tape, jewelry, paint, food, etc.)
- Lighting must support/enhance the character or theme you are conveying with your model and props
- Must have backdrop-cannot see the wall in final photo
In Photoshop
- 1 final 8x10 in photograph
- Photoshop edits
- Original saved .jpg image
- Working saved .psd image
- Background layer, image sizing, resolution, cropping
- Adjustments layer (ying yang)
- brightness, contrast, exposure, etc.
- Clean up layer
- Clone stamp, burn & dodge
- Flatten image and save as .jpg
- Only other Photoshop edits allowed: de-saturate (black and white)
Fractured Requirements in Photoshop
- 10-15 2x3 in. fractured sections of model printed
- Final composition no larger than 20x20 in.
- Must be mounted with glue and accurately aligned
- Must be signed and titled with white pencil

- Brainstorm and inspiration find- Friday 1/9 (formative)
- Photographing complete and (20) images due at beginning of class Friday 1/23 (formative)
- Portrait Photographer Research Assignment due Monday 1-26 (summative)
- Photoshop Editing/Fracturing/Printing Due Tuesday 1-27 (formative)
- Final matted project due Monday 2-2 (Summative)
****Must have fee paid in order to print with photo paper!
